Access Statement for The Redcliff, 18/19 Brunswick Terrace, Weymouth, Dorset DT4 7RW We are located in a quiet cul de sac, 15 metres from the beach, which can be accessed without crossing a road but using the pavement of the cul de sac. It is a level 10 minute walk into the town and its amenities, which is also accessible by bus, taxi or the Land Train in the summer season. Weymouth Station is also only ten minutes walk away. There is a very good bus service covering the area and it many attractions. The Redcliff Guesthouse is a Georgian Grade II listed building, and whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests we are restricted by planning regulations and the size of the rooms and door frames which are period features and therefore not removable to allow for wheelchairs. No rooms are on the ground floor and there is not a lift. Pre-Arrival • It is possible to park directly outside our front door to unload your luggage, we will then direct you to a suitable parking space. Our Car park is at the rear of the building and down three flights of stairs, so not for those with walking difficulties. • The nearest shops are 10 minutes walk away. • The nearest bus stop is 2 minutes walk away. • There are several local taxi companies and we are happy to make bookings for you. • We have no pets and regret we can not accommodate pets as we have guests who may have allergies to pet fur. • Menus can be provided in large print • Our website www.redcliffweymouth.co.uk provides pictures of our accommodation and further information about the services we provide. • You can contact us by phone email or on line booking. Please see our website for details Arrival & Car Parking Facilities • Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you. • To ensure your accommodation is ready we ask that guests do not normally arrive before 2 p.m. Earlier arrival may, however, be possible by arrangement. • Parking to unload is on the road at the front of the Guesthouse. Once unloaded you must move to either our car park which can be accessed by three flights of steps or on level ground by a 5 minute walk. • We offer assistance with luggage. Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area • The Main entrance is up two steps. The entrance hallway is quite narrow, but once into the reception area there is seating whilst you register. • There is a front door bell if the front door is closed. Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc • The breakfast room, reception and lounge are all on the ground floor. • The nearest guest bedroom is up two flights of stairs with bannister and handrail. The first flight is 9 steps to the landing then 4 steps to the bedroom. This room is not sea view but is en suite. • The stairs are carpeted. • The sea view rooms are one more flight of stairs up a further 4 carpeted stairs with banister, so 17 steps in all. Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc • Guests are welcome to use the lounge at any time. • The lounge has two sofas and two chairs as well as 4 dining room style chairs. The lounge has a TV, DVD player and Video player and is centrally heated. This room is carpeted and the sofas are leather. • A selection of local information, maps magazines and board games is available in the lounge. • Breakfast is served in the dining room which is a Georgian wooden floor and has uneven areas due to its age. Public WCs • There are two toilets and a shower room on the first floor landing which is up 9 carpeted stairs with banister to the first landing and a further 4 carpeted stairs with handrail. Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Bar area, Take Away & Cafe • We are not licensed for the sale of alcohol and have no bar. • Our dining/breakfast room has a Georgian wooden floor and is slightly uneven due to its age. Laundry • We are happy to offer a service wash through the local laundry. • There is no shop, but we are happy to advise you of the nearest shop to meet your needs. Outdoor Facilities • The sea is 15 metres from our front door. • A short walk away is Greenhill Gardens, a putting green and tennis courts. • Ten minute walk will take you to the town centre or the Sea Life Centre. • Buses run from the rear of the Guesthouse. Conference & Meeting Rooms, Banqueting • The dining room can be booked for meetings for groups. Clubs & Entertainment • Weymouth has several nightclubs, and pubs are numerous and varied in style. There is a multiplex cinema and bowling alley as well as The Pavilion Theatre.
Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared] • The shared shower and toilets are on the first floor. • All rooms have en suite showers, we have no baths. Attractions (Displays, exhibits, rides etc.) • We have leaflets on local attractions and are happy to recommend them based on our and other guests opinions. Grounds and Gardens • There are two raised terraces at the front of the building with chairs for guests comfort. The terraces are approximately 30cm high above the pavement. They have full sea views. • There is a rear terrace which catches the afternoon sun, up a flight of 11 uneven stone steps. • There are two steps to the front door. • There are three decking steps up to the car park from the back terrace. Additional Information • There is a fire alarm system with very loud warning bell. If you have a hearing impairment please advise us so that we can assist you in the event of a fire alarm. • There are fire extinguishers on both ground floor entrance hallways, and all landings at the top of each flight of stairs. • In the event of a fire you can exit the building through the front door, dining room rear door and two kitchen exits. • Please familiarise your self with the fire evacuation procedure in each room on the back of the door or nearby wall. If you are unable to read this please let us know so that we can talk it through with you. • We are completely non smoking in all rooms, private and public. • We are happy to cater for special diets. • We are happy to refrigerate any medications you may require, and there is a fridge for guest use in the dining room although we ask that any potentially harmful medications are not put in there. • We have free WiFi access.
