A guest who has stayed in Room 14 has kidnapped our lovely seagull Jonathon, who sat on the window ledge looking out across the bay and helped scare away our local seagulls. Jonathon will miss the sea air and , we hope the kidnappers will return him to his native habitat or send us the £15 he cost us!

Weymouth is beautiful out of season with bright clear crisp days and still plenty of sunshine in our little microclimate to make a break by the sea enjoyable.
We have great special offers on £34 per person per night in a sea view en suite room or £29 in a non sea view en suite, £5 per person per night less if you want a lie in and forget breakfast, so take a look at our website, pick your room and come and unwind for a few days.

One of the things we miss living by the sea is snow, so we were very excited this morning when we had a light dusting. Our Polish visitors were very amused at our excitement and the way the country has ground to a halt, as they live with several feet of snow in the winter. But for us it was very special. It doesn’t happen very often and it doesn’t happen much, certainly not enough to make a snowman, maybe a snow shell, but when it does it’s very pretty!

Despite the weathermen predicting in tones of gloom and doom that we would not have an Indian Summer this year, Weymouth has been enjoying a week of 18 degree temperatures and brilliant wall to wall sunshine! People are in the sea, eating ice creams and generally having a wonderful time, so come on weathermen get it right for once!
We are often sitting here in brilliant sunshine when the weathermen predict rain, so please call us and ask what the weather is doing!

And yet more filming in Weymouth with several stars spotted out and about enjoying the restaurants and pubs.
The Boat That Rocks is a film covering the early days of Pirate Radio ships such as Radio Caroline. A very nostalgic trip down memory lane for any one old enough to remember hiding under the blankets (post duvets!) listening to a transistor radio by the earplug so that your Mum didn’t catch you! The film is released March 2009.

As those of you have stayed with us will know we are very close to the sea, and lots of people ask us how near to our front door does the sea come and have we ever flooded. As Weymouth bay is shallow for quite a long way out, even when the weather picks up and we have an Easterly wind which blows straight in our front door, the sea gets choppy, the kite surfers come out and entertain us with their fantastic feats, but the sea doesn’t usually come any further up the beach.
The recent high tide and very strong winds in early March however bought it a little closer than normal!
