They have a huge array of artefacts dating back to as early as the Roman era. All of the artefacts have been found throughout the Weymouth and the Melcombe Regis area.
The museum currently occupies temporary galleries in Brewers Quay. The quay itself is a historic building awaiting renovation and the perfect backdrop for the museum.
Weymouth Museum is the perfect place to take the kids on a day when the weather is against you. There is a lot of information on display and some incredible artefacts that have been taken out of the ground that you have been walking on all holiday. The history of the area really is quite astounding and you get to see it unravel in front of your very eyes at the museum.
The collection goes back to Roman occupation and right up to the early 20th century so it is a true walk down memory lane.
